I think I may finally get around to trying this. Am away at the moment and found some "sheep's wool, 100% wool, with vegetable dye, particularly suited for needle felting and wet felting" - I've bought a few small packets (10g each). Does this sound like what you call roving? It looks like it to me although it's not pulled out into long bits. I'm just wondering now what pencil roving is?

Hi! I loved the photographs of the felting process. We go camping in a large group for a week each summer at an island accessible only by passenger ferry. Last summer I took along a selection of wool roving and showed the kids how to make boxes by felting around smooth rocks. It was really fun to embellish the boxes only with found materials: shells, feathers ...

Hi! I found your blog through An Irish Craftworkers Good Life blog.

I'm interested in joining the cooperative for purchasing Jamieson yarns for a sample catalog.

And a suggestion - I always make wrist warmers knitted in the round when sampling Fair Isle patterns and yarn colors. That way, if I like the combinations, I have wrist warmers. If I don't like them, I cut the sample to lay flat for my swatch collections. Either way, I get a sample of the pattern, the color combinations and an accurate gauge swatch!
